WireTap Presents Vox Balaenae

5.11.18 - 8pm - Nelson Music Room, Duke University - Durham, NC
Suggested Donation of $10

Join us for an eclectic program featuring works with connections to nature and cultural traditions, including George Crumb's evocative and dramatic exploration of whale song, Vox Balaenae. Inspired by flocks of birds, Korde's solo flute work, Tenderness of Cranes, is based on the Japanese shakuhachi flute style of playing. Negrón's Quimbombó features Afro-Caribbean rhythms and melodies, and is named after a Puerto Rican stew of okra, pork, and plantains. Tukiliit, a solo piano work by John Luther Adams, comes from the Inuit word for beautiful rock structures that are found all over the world.
